About Patty

D1 golfers
Team Washington 2018, now D1 golfers

As a former Division 1, All Conference golfer at the University of New Mexico, Patty knows what it takes to get to college and succeed both athletically and academically. She is dedicated, persistent, and often begins where others give up. She learned from one of the best, her mother Joan Teats. Joan is known as the founder and Matriarch of Washington Junior Golf where she helped develop Patty's game before there were many tournaments for her girls. Joan was inducted into the Pacific Northwest Golf hall of fame in 1995.

Saving the goodness of sports

Patty chose a career in Sports Medicine and worked with collegiate athletes in all types of sports. In 1998 Patty joined the LPGA to bring her two passions together and developed a personalized and comprehensive approach to golf instruction; one that truly integrates physical capacity, learning and communication styles, personal goals, and equipment choices into improving golf performance.

Coach Curtiss, Go Washington!

She served as the Head Teaching Professional at Palm Valley Country Club and Director of Instruction and Fitness at Indian Wells Country Club. Patty founded Golf Rehab, a medically directed golf instruction program and began "setting the standard" for golf fitness, and medical professionals. She provided consulting services and educational seminars to PGA, LPGA, collegiate coaches, medical professionals and aspiring young tour players.

Those we support hold us up in life

Patty's Tacoma roots and continued involvement with Washington Junior Golf Association kept pulling her home, and she returned to the Seattle area in 2018. Over the past 20 years she has coached many of the best junior players in the state, and served on the board of directors for the Girls' Junior America Cup, where she was president for two terms (2008-2015). This unique blend of experiences "on the front line," of organizational service, coaching, and caring for student athletes assures that she understands the real issues that young athletes face when trying to compete on the course or in the classroom. Patty has witnessed athletes who have every kind of support imaginable fail, and athletes with absolutely no support become wildly successful. This success as a student athlete comes from something other than financial resources and swing coaches. Success as a student athlete comes from first knowing what you love, then doing what you love.
